Legal Information on the Resale of Software Activation Keys

Court of Justice of the European Union Ruling:

In the case known as UsedSoft GmbH v Oracle International Corp. (Case C-128/11), the CJEU decided clearly that software keys could be resold legally. According to this ruling, once a software company sells a software license, its control over further distribution is “exhausted,” meaning that the buyer has the right to resell the activation key legally.
